Overcoming Stress

We are physically built to handle stress by becoming more alert, more aware, faster, sharper, and “on it”.  We are so good at adapting to stress, that we have an entire system of hormones that are called into action whenever we experience a threatening situation, are “stressed out”, have a deadline, are on demand, or simply overwhelmed.  The stress response in modern times has been acting out of control in response to the “tiger in the room” which can be anything from a boss breathing down our necks, a baby that just won’t sleep, or even as simple as relationship strife.  We respond to our daily life stress with the same force that we would if we encounter dangerous animals in the wild.
